Font de la Figuera is a blend of old Grenache and Carignan vines, dosed with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyard, planted on terraces with the classic "llicorella" soil, is placed in a spectacular location, just to the north of Gratallops, overlooking the Montsant River Valley.
Production:
The wine has been aged for 12 months in new and 2º-year 500-litre French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
Aromatic nose with rich fruit, black cherry and blueberry, minerals, spices, and herbal notes. Layers of ripe berry fruit on the palate, with toasted, roasted coffee, toffee, spice, and chocolate flavours, and soft and mature tannins.
Note: We recommend letting the wine breathe or decanting before serving. Potential ageing in bottle: 10–12 years.
Clos Figueras was purchased in 1997 by Charlotte and Christopher Cannan on the recommendation of Réne Barbier. The 18-hectare estate is located just to the north of the renowned village of Gratallops. Actually, the vineyard includes around 2500 old Grenache and Carignan vines, which are the base for the Clos Figueres; the remaining vines were planted in 1998 and are the base for the elaboration of Font de la Figuera and Sierras del Priorat.
