Production: 

Elaborated from the local variety Grenache sourced from low-yielding old vines planted on slate soils. High mountainside vineyards at about 900 metres altitude. Fermentation in stainless steel and matured for 18 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: 

Dark cherry colour, nose of ripe red and black fruit scents combined with spicy and mineral aromas. Quite fruity on the palate, with deep, rich blueberry flavours and red raspberries. Creamy, fine tannins; powerful and ripe

Notes: Good potential to improve with time.

Bodegas Ateca is one of the seven companies that compose The Gil Family Estates Group, a project that unifies a series of selected and interesting wineries from different D.O.s in Spain, each one with its own personality. The winery established in 2005 is located 14 km from Calatayud in the town of Ateca (Zaragoza). Their 55 ha of vineyards, made up of small sites, are planted predominantly with old Grenache vines on slated soils and can be found at higher elevations around the hillsides of the mountains of Ateca.
