A very distinctive and high-quality rosé. It was first produced in 2015 after several years of research, and it is the first rosé wine made in Spain solely from the Mazuelo red variety.

The grapes come from El Pago La Plana in the Rioja Alta, in the highest area of Finca Ygay, at an elevation of 500 meters above sea level, where the grapes were first planted in 1950.

Production:

Grapes are hand harvested, carefully de-stemmed, and then gently crushed before being fermented in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 10 oC. Resting with its fine lees for five months.

Tasting Notes:

Pale pink in colour. Fresh, elegant, and of good aromatic intensity, it displays notes of red apples, currants, a light herbal touch, and spicy pink pepper. Fluid on the palate, succulent and savoury, with a lengthy, expressive finish.

THE WINERY

Marqués de Murrieta, founded in 1852, is a family business and one of the most famous Rioja producers. This project is a way of life. With over 150 years of history, they have succeeded in adapting to modern times while maintaining, at the same time, the winery’s identity with a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, which is transmitted and reflected in all the wines they produce.

The winery includes almost 300 ha of vineyards in the southernmost part of La Rioja Alta. The extension of its estate makes Marques de Murrieta one of the few Spanish wineries whose wine is 100% made with their own grapes, thus enabling them to take extra care of the vineyards and to have total control over them.
