Production: 

Made from 100% Tempranillo vines between 20 and 40 years old. Made from whole, de-stemmed grapes. Spent 24 months ageing in American oak barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle.  
 

Tasting Notes:

Very ripe, deep aromas of dark fruit combine with good spicy cacao notes and lingering vanilla. A full-bodied palate of cherry and cassis fruits blended with creamy, vanilla notes along with coffee and spice and some nicely smooth tannins on the finish.

 Note:  It will evolve with some time in bottle and will drink nicely over the next 8-10 years.

BODEGAS ALEJANDRO FERNÁNDEZ

Alejandro Fernandez, the founder of the winery, was a self-made winemaker who, following the family tradition learnt from his father, started making wine from the grapes of his small vineyards until in 1972, when he managed to establish his own winery. Some 10 years later, the wines began to show their excellent quality, and he became one of the most well-known and respected wine producers and, in Pesquera, a legendary name.

His wines are the result of a lifetime of hard work and capture and transmit the strength, structure, and complexity of the Ribera del Duero region. A family that controls day by day every step of the process, from the care of the vineyard, the harvest, the elaboration, the ageing, to the commercialisation, while remaining faithful to their roots and their traditional values.
