Schloss Gobelsburg, a Cistercian monastery, is one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube area, dating back to 1171. It comprises 35 ha, with a splendid location in historical vineyard sites around the castle. All the vineyards are located on slopes and terraces around the valley of the river Kamp. Schloss Gobelsberg specialises in Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The winery is a member of the association "Österreichische Traditionsweingüter" (an association of Austrian traditional wineries).

The grapes have been sourced from younger vines, 3 to 30 years old, growing on loess terraces, soft-formed hills made up of loess, a sandy soil that gives the Grüner Veltliner its classic structure of elegance and character. The wine matures in stainless steel vats.

 

Tasting Notes:

Lively and clean, refreshing yet with depth, spicy yellow fruits and tangy citrus. A lingering dry finish, a pleasure to drink.
