Benje is a white wine from the Canary Islands, the project of Envinate in collaboration with wine growers in Santiago del Teide, Tenerife.
A single-varietal wine, Listan Blanco, the grapes come from very old vines at 1000 meters of altitude, planted on volcanic soils, with some plots covered in volcanic ash.
Production:
Manual harvesting with grape selection in the vineyard.
Fermented in concrete vats and open small vats with autochthonous yeasts, it matured in concrete vats and used 228-litre French oak barrels for 8 months.
Bottled without the addition of sulphites, unclarified and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes:
Fresh, fruity, and juicy. Displays white fruit aromas (apple, pear), floral and herbaceous notes with light citrus touches and a mineral background. Slightly bitter finish with some almond hints.
THE PROJECT
Envinate is a venture of four friends who, after studying enology together, embarked on a project that was unique to them. Currently, it has established itself as a solid and dynamic project with great recognition and prestige, both nationally and internationally, for its "terroir" wines, which are highly sought after for their excellent value for money.
Following their passion and ideals and with a lot of work and their expertise, they have proudly created a range of honest, authentic wines from distinctive areas, mainly in the area of Ribera Sacra and also the Canary Islands, always working with the local varieties, wines that speak of the terroir where they come from.
They work in a natural style, using no chemicals in any of their vineyards; all grapes are hand-harvested, and they use wild yeasts. Sulphur is added in those cases where it is needed, such as during bottling and ageing in old barrels and concrete vats.
