Te Mata was established in 1896, and to this day, the winery remains the property of the family. Te Mata Estate specialises in producing high-quality, classic wines. The winery handles all stages of its wine production, from growing the grapes on the vines to winemaking and bottling. Actually, it is recognised as one of New Zealand's most prestigious wine producers, producing internationally acclaimed wines exclusively from its own vineyards in Hawke's Bay.
Production:
A single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc white wine. The grapes are sourced exclusively from vineyards owned by the Te Mata estate in the Hawke's Bay region.
In order to preserve the finest aromas and flavours, the grapes undergo a minimal vinification process. The grapes are chilled at their arrival at the winery, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes:
Bright, light golden colour. Fresh and fragrant nose with notes of redcurrants, lemon zest, green apple, ripe gooseberry, and grapefruit. Mouth-watering and delicious with a bright citrus and juicy acidity, ripe tropical fruit, nectarine, and salinity. It has a dry, refreshing finish.
