Red wine elaborated by Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné. It is a 100% Syrah cuvée sourced from vines located in the low terraced vineyards of the Rhône, in Les Chassis. The vines were planted between 1991 and 2021 on stony soils of glacial origin, quite characteristic of this region. These small round pebbles store the heat during the day and release it at night, which helps the grapes reach their optimal ripeness.
Production:
The grapes are meticulously hand-selected when they reach their optimal ripeness. The maceration process takes place over three weeks with daily pumpovers.
The wine spends 12 months in truncated cone vats, French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes:
Intense, bright ruby colour. A fresh wine with a marked varietal character, clean and fresh. The nose reveals aromas of black and red fruits accompanied by the classic spicy notes and a floral touch of violets. Medium-bodied, balanced acidity and silky tannins with spicy undertones and bright fruit.
Paul Jaboulet Aîné is a successful producer of wines from most of the Rhône appellations, in Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Coindreu and Cornas.
Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné was founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet, a producer and merchant in the region. The Domain has been passed down through the generations, preserving its winemaking heritage. Since 2006, the property has been in the hands of the Grey family, wine growers from Champagne and owners of Château la Laguna in Bordeaux.
Jaboulet's vineyards are located in the heart of the Hermitage appellation, one of the most prestigious in the Rhône. They spread across over 100 hectares of privileged terroir, including some of the most sought-after plots in the Rhône Valley.
The Domaine is renowned for its Syrah-based wines but also produces exceptional white wine from the Viognier grape. Today, Paul Jaboulet is a true icon of the Rhône Valley, continuing to be a reference for its high quality and excellence, some of which are the most coveted wines in the region.
