The classic wine from the Feudo Montoni winery is an aged red wine certified organic. It is made from 100% Nero d'Avola, a native Italian red grape variety that is particularly emblematic of Sicily.
The winery was founded in 1469 and is considered to be one of the oldest on the island. It is located in the Cammarata region, in the heart of Sicily, a mountainous area situated at an altitude of between 500 and 800 metres. The winery has been owned by the Sireci family since the 19th century and is currently managed by the third generation.
Production:
The grapes come from 35-year-old vines growing on sandy-clay soil at about 600 metres above sea level. Manually harvested and fermented in concrete tanks. Aged for 20 months in cement, 4 months in a barrel and 4 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Full of southern maturity, displaying freshness and ripe fruit, black cherries, red plums and blackberries along with a background of spicy nuances. Dry, full-bodied, smooth and flavourful on the palate with marked menthol notes and ripe black fruit. Very fine sweet tannins.
