Mon Iaio Sisco is the second label of the winery, created three years ago by Josep Vicens, the 5th generation, in honour of his grandfather "Sisco" Francisco Vicens, who was a pioneer in the family's winemaking and who devoted his entire life to the world of wine.
This is a blend of red Grenache and Carignan (Samsó) grapes from vines in ecological agriculture from the vineyards "Perdigons" and "Sendrosa", growing on clay loam soils in the municipal district of Gandesa.
Production:
Fermented in stainless steel tanks at temperature control. Ageing for 6 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
Fresh, direct, persistent, and most of all, authentic. Filled with black cherries, layers of red plum and blueberry fruit, some evidence of balsamic notes, and fine wood. Creamy and silky on the palate, showing a vein of nerve, along with a blend of cherries, plums, and berry fruits. Good acidity and freshness all the way to the end.
Celler Josep Vicens is a small family-run operation in Gandesa whose origins date back to the early days of the XIX century. The Vincen’s family, local winegrowers dedicated to selling wine in bulk, have passed on the operation to the current generation, who are committed to innovation, introducing new techniques, pioneering the introduction of the Syrah variety in the area, and elaborating good quality wines. Their brand name “Vinyes del Grau” comes from the family’s oldest plantation called "El Grau", where they grow mainly Syrah, used in both their young and aged wine. Their vineyards, extending over 17 hectares, are situated in the surroundings of Gandesa (Terra Alta); they are planted on diverse soils, although the main type is calcareous, very low in organic matter.
