Production: 

A blend of Tempranillo grapes from old vines over 80 years old. Hand harvested and aged in French oak barrels for 28 months with a further three years in bottle before its release.

Bottled unfiltered and stabilised by natural methods during its ageing in barrels, which may cause sediments; in that case, decanting is recommended.

A wine for eternity, it has an excellent ageing potential.

Tasting Notes:

Intense black-cherry colour. Supple and smooth, this classic Rioja shows complexity, aromatic intensity, balsamic notes, lightly toasted aromas, plumps, spice, and soft red berries. Plums again, plus spice on the harmonious palate, which also has a hint of leather and tobacco. Good acidity with polished tannins, round and persistent.

Since its beginnings in 1858, Vinos de los Herederos del Márques de Riscal has been one of La Rioja's pioneer wineries, being the first to produce wines aged in oak barrels. Its wines are a must-try for anyone interested in learning about Rioja's very traditional style. The winery is located in El Ciego (Alava) and has a history of producing excellent wines.
