La Rioja Alta Winery is one of Rioja's very best names, producing high-quality wines in the classic Rioja style. Viña Ardanza is the bodega's best-known wine and one of the classic Rioja's very best.

Production:

A blend of Tempranillo with a smaller percentage of Garnacha. A selection of the very best grapes of Tempranillo from 30-year-old vines in Fuenmayor in La Rioa Alta and the best grapes of Grenache from ancient vines in La Rioja Baja.

Each variety is aged separately. The Tempranillo ages for 36 months with six manual rackings in American oak barrels, and the Garnacha ages for 30 months with five manual rackings in used American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes:

A classic nose of tobacco, leather, and spiced red fruit. Complex, structured, and powerful, with a smooth texture, rounded flavours, and soft and silky tannins.

Notes: With good ageing potential, it will drink well through 2036.
