Mas Doix Poboleda Vi de Vila is the new red Grenache wine from the Poboleda winery. This wine is aged in concrete vats; it has not seen any wood and is certified as an organic wine.

A single varietal Garnacha that reflects the purest expression of the local Garnacha grape, a singular, fresh, and elegant wine with a subtle minerality and limited production that will age with class.

It is made under the classification "Vi de Vila" (Village Wine), the new legislation introduced in 2009 by the DOQ Priorat, which recognises and protects each region’s different characteristics, such as viniculture, climate, soil, etc., with the purpose of highlighting their own characteristics.

The Grenache comes from 20-25-year-old vines planted on "Costers" (steep slopes) and terraces on "llicorella" soils from the Salanca and the Barranc de la Morera estates in the municipal district of Poboleda, the coolest area of Priorat. Here the vines grow sheltered between the Montsant and Molló mountain ranges and benefit from the Mediterranean climate with a marked temperature variation between day and night, conditions which favour the slower ripening of the grapes and consequently a later harvest.

Elaboration:

Manual harvesting with minimal intervention. The grapes are hand-sorted both in the vineyard and the cellar to remove overripe grapes. At the winery sorting table, the grapes go through a rigorous second- and third-hand selection.

100% destemmed grapes are fermented partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in concrete. Ageing is carried out in concrete eggs between 4 and 6 months.

Tasting Notes:

Very expressive, it displays succulent red fruit, forest fruits, and spicy notes with a light floral touch. Pleasantly creamy palate, fresh, elegant with red fruit and subtle mineral flavours. Warm and tasty with a long finish. It exhibits all the personality, elegance, and expressiveness that are characteristic of the region and the vintage.
