Production: 

Sourced from organically growing vines, with manual sorting of each variety. Fermentation of each variety separately over 7 days at a controlled temperature of 22ºC. Ageing for 8 months in French oak barriques (80%) and American oak (20%).

Tasting Notes: 

Aromatic, sweet, dark cherry-scented nose; mature fruits; and slate notes. Simple fruit driven with plenty of flavour, velvety texture, and ripe, fine tannins. A well-made Priorat wine.

The winery is called Domini de la Cartoixa (the priory’s domain), as these lands once belonged to the Carthusian monks of Scala Dei Priory. The winery and its 11-hectare vineyard are located in the village of El Molar within the prestigious DOC Priorat and are owned by the Perez-Dalmau family.

The wines from Clos Galena winery, Galena, and Formiga de Vellut are organically farmed and produced, duly certified by the authority CCPAE, the Catalan Council of Organic Production, the public watchdog responsible to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.
