Production:   Dom Perignon is a vintage champagne, only made in the best years, from the best grapes exclusively harvested on that particular year which make them excellent representatives of the years from which they are produced.  Named after Dom Perignon, a Benedictine monk and a pioneer in the Champagne production. The first vintage of Dom Perignon was only released in 1936, after the then unused mark  called Dom Perignon together with the Abbey and vineyards of Hautvillers was bought from Mercier in 1930, as a prestige cuvée for export markets. It is made from a higher percentage of Chardonnay supported by Pinot Noir from the firm’s own vineyards on the Montague de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne. The result is a beautifully balanced and elegant wine with its characteristic lively minerality and fully vibrant. A prestige Cuvée that is worth its price.

The 2006 vintage characterised for its ease and generosity. In contrast with the year before, vine growth was regular and progressed without incident, while the bunches were of a significant number and size. The vintage was defined by the dry heat of the final weeks before the harvest. The harvest began on 24th September when the grapes had reached an excellent ripeness and health.

Moët & Chandon is the giant of the champagne industry and getting bigger. Actually they belong to the LVMH Group a world leader in luxury and success.  The business was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a broker and a grower from the Grande Vallée de la Marne and since then it has not stopped growing and succeeding and with a very high quality of wine-making produced,  Moët completely dominates today the export business.

Tasting Notes: On the nose displays aromas of almond and powdered cocoa developed gradually into white fruit with hints of dried flowers. Classic toasted notes give a rounded finish and denote a fully realized maturity. On the palate displays precisión, density and full elegance.

Note: Enjoy it now or can be enjoyed after many years when stored with care.
