Ratafía is a popular and traditional Catalan drink. The production of home-made Ratafia is still a strong tradition in many villages in the area, and the recipes are passed down through generations. A sweet liqueur that has been handcrafted following the family’s recipe and handed down from generation to generation for the past 50 years.

Production:

A traditional maceration of 40 days from a complex formula of herbs, species, and fruits with green nuts from the local region of Rasquera, a municipality in the Comarca of Ribera d’Ebre in the province of Tarragona.

The extraction of the aroma occurs through maceration under anisette or very refined alcohol, generally wine, during a period of one to nine months. At the end of the maceration, the ratafia is filtered and sweetened with sugar, syrup, or caramel, followed by an ageing process.

Caramel in colour, sweet flavour, herbs and spices, liquorice, warm and persistent, with a slight bitter touch.

Drink Ratafia liqueur at room temperature, or it can be served cold when drunk as an aperitif or digestif. It is also ideal for desserts and sweets and to accompany dried fruits and nuts.
