The Dalwhinnie Distillery, one of the highest distilleries in Scotland at 1073 feet, was founded in 1898 in a remote, windswept, and rain-lashed spot of the highlands wilderness in the Grampian Mountains, where it provides itself with an unlimited supply of fresh spring water from the loch of the Green Thicket. Dalwhinnie is a classic Highland malt that ages slowly; fifteen years of gentle ageing give it its distinctive smoothness, depth, flavours of creamy vanilla, and a heather-honeyed sweetness, finishing with a long, lingering, smoky Highland glow.

Dalwhinnie is the Highland malt in the group of the "six Classic Malts".
