Small family-owned winery with a long wine-growing tradition, 500 years in the hands of the same family, located in the very heart of the Mosel, in the village of Brauneberg, where their 15th-century house that held the original cellar is still proudly standing to be the oldest building in the village. Since 1995, Marcus Haag, the grandchild of Willi Haag, has been in charge of the cellars, where he produces a wide range of wines, focusing entirely on the Riesling variety, combining tradition with innovation. All the grapes are sourced from their estate, just 6.5 hectares of steep slate-soil vineyards. Some of the vineyard sites are located on the “Juffer”, the name of the steep slope opposite the small town of Brauneberg and overlooking the river Mosel, sites with an exceptional potential ideally suited to the Riesling grape; here the best vineyards are situated around the sundial (Sonnenuhr), making this one of the top German ideal locations for Riesling winegrowing. An excellent range of wines praised for its excellent quality-price ratio.

Spätlese: literally means late harvest, wines of higher quality harvested at the end of the autumn, from grapes which have been allowed to ripen longer than usual, increasing the intensity and the flavours of the fruit.

The Riesling Juffer Brauneberg Spätlese is made from grapes sourced from the family estate's own vineyards in the Juffer Brauneberg, a single estate wine (Grosse Lage), from the steep south-facing slope “Juffer” in the town of Brauneberg, from soil made up of weathered blue and grey slate.

Tasting Notes: Juicy, flavourful pear, melon, quince, honeyed notes and spices, minerality and good acidity in perfect balance with the fruit and the sweetness. Creamy texture with a very long refreshing honeyed fruit finish.

Notes: With a good potential to improve and a great life span.
