White wine made from the indigenous White Godello grape with a small amount of Treixadura added. The grapes are sourced from 17–28-year-old vines growing on terraced slopes at an altitude of 600 meters and more above the sea level.
Production:
Fermentation takes place in 300-litre French oak foudres and 500-litre barriques, where it will spend four months resting on its lees.
Tasting Notes:
Clean, fragrant nose, white fruits, good minerality, and floral and herbaceous notes. Creamy-textured and complex, with good fruit definition, acidity, minerals, and a long, dry finish.
LA BODEGA
Rafael Palacios, nephew of Spain’s well-known and talented winemaker Alvaro Palacios, began his new wine venture in 2004 in Valdeorras, in the eastern part of Galicia, in the sub-zone of the Bibei Valley in the municipality of O Bolo.
He had his sights set on Galicia, an area that was underappreciated, and took the decision to purchase old Godello vineyards there from old local growers.
The Valley of Bibei is home to the production of Godello-based, quality wines. The winery owns 21 ha of vineyards, consisting of 26 different parcels planted mostly with the native Godello grape. The vines range in age from 6 to 90 years, and most of them are growing on terraced slopes.
