Naturalment Textura 3 is a sparkling wine made from 100% white Grenache using the ancestral method. Produced by Andrea Miró, a young and enthusiastic third-generation winemaker, the daughter of Jordi Miró, founder of the winery in Terra Alta.
The Ancestral is a sparkling wine made under the ancestral method, a very old method that produces sparkling wines after a single fermentation. In the ancestral method, the must starts its fermentation in the tank, but it is bottled before finishing in order to complete the fermentation in the bottle.
Naturalment Textura is the most personal project of Jordi Miro's winery, led entirely by Andrea Miró, the new generation of the bodega. She has created the series Naturalment Textures wines based on the textures of the White Grenaches; for that, she follows her own interpretation of the grapes and the different winemaking processes while remaining faithful to the philosophy of minimal intervention. As a result, she presents us with a range of wines of a very limited production that are marked by their freshness and pleasant mouthfeel. Wines that convey emotions and reflect the essence of the terroir and the grape variety.
Elaboration:
The grapes are growing on dry-farmed, low-yield vineyards. Naturalment wines are hand-picked, fermented with their wild yeasts and low sulphur levels.
A "pied-de-cuve", or a yeast starter culture, is prepared at the vineyard a week before the harvest begins. A technique that involves propagating wild yeasts from the vineyard to activate malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the special characteristics of each vintage.
Bottled before the fermentation process is fully complete, allowing it to finish in the bottle. Subsequently disgorged manually and sealed with a metal cap.
Tasting notes:
It presents fine bubbles and a creamy texture. Aromas of juicy green apple, ripe pear and pineapple fruit, combined with floral notes and layers of spiced ginger with light toasted nuances.
THE WINERY
Celler Jordi Miró is a family-owned winery established in 1999; it is named after its founder and winemaker, Jordi Miró. The new winery was set up in 2009 in the heart of the Terra Alta winemaking area, in the municipality of Corbera d'Ebre. He, actually, works alongside his daughters Andrea and Aïda, who share his passion and tradition of making their own wines under the same roof, resulting in three unique and different personal projects, which is reflected in the new line of wines that the winery produces.
The first project was led by Jordi Miró, the winery's founder; later, his daughters joined him, pursuing their own personal projects.
Andrea's project is based on the white Grenache variety and Aïda's on the red Grenache variety.
All three of them make their wines with an innovative approach, experimenting with different production techniques and using native yeasts and spontaneous fermentation. Their focus is on reviving family traditions to craft unique, personal wines that reflect the terroir from which they come.
