Production: 

Obtained from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes from the region of Montilla-Moriles south of the city of Cordoba in northern Andalucía.

Grapes are picked at their optimum degree of maturity and left to dry in the sun until they turn into raisins. Afterwards, the rich must resulting from the pressing is fortified and then aged for 5 years in American oak butts in the "solera and criaderas" system started in 1927.

Alvear is one of the oldest and largest in the region. Established in 1729 and still owned by the same family after nearly 300 years, it has itself earned international recognition and is renowned for producing excellent-quality wines of the highest standards. 

Tasting Notes: 

Intense dark amber colour. Good intensity of aromas; notes of prunes, chocolate, and raisins combine with the aromas of nuts and dried fruits. Dense, rich, and of great intensity, with a mouth-filling palate, raisiny, toasty flavours, hints of natural sweetness with good complexity, and a long aftertaste.
