Production: Obtained from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes from the region of Montilla-Moriles south of the city of Cordoba in northern Andalucía. Grapes picked on their optimum degree of maturity and left to dry in the sun until they turn into raisins, afterwards the rich must resulting from the pressing is fortified and then aged during 5 years in American oak butts in the “solera and criaderas” system started in 1927.
Alvear is one of the oldest and the largest in the region, established in 1729 and still owned by the same family after nearly 300 years, it has itself earned an international recognition and great prestigious producing excellent quality wines of the highest standards.
Tasting Notes: Intense dark amber colour. Good intensity of aromas, notes of prunes, chocolate, raisins combining with the aromas of nuts and dried fruits. Dense, rich, of great intensity with a mouth filling palate, raisiny, toasty flavours, hints of natural sweetness with good complexity and a long aftertaste.
