El Cel is the most exclusive wine of the winery, a 100% estate-grown red wine from Merum Prioriti winery in Porrera.
The grapes are sourced exclusively from the higher-altitude vineyards, from low-yielding old vines ranging in age from 16 to 104 years. Vines growing on rocky soil very poor in organic matter.
El Cel is a classic Priorat wine with a complex structure, balanced and consistent. A blend with Grenache as a greater protagonist, a wine that expresses the characteristics of this unique terroir where it comes from and enjoys the prestige of being certified as "Viticultura Heróica" by the CERVIM, the Centre for Research, Environmental Sustainability, and Advancement of Mountain Viticulture, the international organisation in charge of promoting and protecting the heroic viticulture.
Vinification:
Harvested by hand, grapes were destemmed and gently pressed with a pneumatic horizontal press. Fermented in steel vats at a controlled temperature. It matures for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels of third use, followed by a long evolution in bottle before being placed on the market. Blended before bottling. Bottled unfiltered and unfined. Limited production of 2930 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Dense cherry red colour. The nose displays a good intensity of aromas, especially dark fruits, blueberries, plums, and cedar. On the palate, rich, succulent fruit and nicely balanced acidity. Deep black fruit aromas, spices, chocolate, truffle, and liquorice; silky tannins; and a long and smooth finish.
