Production:

Each variety is individually sorted and sourced from 5 of the 14 plots of the organically farmed estate’s vines. Each variety is fermented and macerated separately in stainless steel tanks. After the blend, the wine ages in French oak barrels (90%) and American oak barrels (10%) for 12 months.

Tasting Notes:

This complex, elegant, and mature wine shows the full potential of the Priorat terroir. Warm and generous, with complex scents of black spices combined with beautiful ripe fruit aromas and marked by the characteristic mineral and balsamic notes. Round and smooth on the palate, with a remarkable combination of complexity and elegance.

THE WINERY

The winery is called Domini de la Cartoixa (the priory’s domain), as these lands belonged once to the Carthusian monks of Scala Dei Priory. The winery and its 11 ha of vineyard are located in the village of El Molar within the prestigious DOC Priorat and are owned by the Perez-Dalmau family. The wines from the winery, Clos Galena, Galena, and Formiga, are organically farmed and produced, duly certified by the authority CCPAE, the Catalan Council of Organic Production, the public watchdog responsible to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.
