Llum d’ALENA is a Grenache based wine, sourced from the younger vineyards, up to 40-year- old vines from their own certified organic vineyards growing on licorella-sloped hills in Gratallops. Fermentation takes place in open barrels, and it has been aged for 12 months in flextank plastic wine tanks.
From the 2009 vintage, the wine is elaborated under the new appellation “Vi de la Vila” from Gratallops. This legislation, introduced in 2009 by the DOQ Priorat, recognises and protects each region’s different characteristics, viniculture, climate, soil, etc., with the purpose of highlighting their particular characteristics. Cal Batllet produces wines exclusively from their own vineyards, planted mainly with the autochthonous varieties Grenache and Carignan on licorella soils.
Tasting Notes:
This wine, with its strong Priorat typicity, is ideal as a first introduction to the Priorat region. A very pleasant wine that is elegant, without any complications; mineral, round, balanced, ripe, and dark fruits, floral and herbaceous touches, warm on the palate with mineral, dark fruit, and dry herb flavors.
