El Grillo is a signature wine and the flagship wine of Bodegas El Grillo y La Luna. It is part of the "Grillo" series, an exceptional and very exclusive wine with character and expressiveness, which has led it to receive numerous awards and has achieved great recognition, both national and worldwide.
Production:
Harvest is carried out manually and selectively by plot and only when the grapes are at their peak ripeness. The grapes are de-stemmed and double-selected at the winery.
Cold-pressed for 5 days. The skins are kept to ensure a gentle extraction of the tannin. Fermentation takes place in 225-litre French oak barrels. Aged in 225-litre French oak barrels for 13 months. Afterwards, the different varieties are blended, and the wine is clarified by gravity.
Tasting notes:
Deep, intense cherry colour. Intense fruit character with notes of ripe red fruit and spices, black pepper, and toasted notes. Full body, smooth, rounded with soft tannins, palate of succulent, ripe black and red fruit. Firm, fresh structure, great balance, persistent finish with a good fruity weight and toasted notes.
El Grillo y La Luna is a small family winery located in Barbastro (Huesca) in the Somontano appellation of origin. The project began in 2007 with the aim of producing unique and soulful wines that reflect the varietal expression and character of the terroir. The grapes come from their 48 hectares of vineyards that they meticulously tend at the foot of the Pyrenees at an altitude of between 350 and 60 meters above sea level.
Despite having some of the smallest vineyards in the region, the winery places an emphasis on quality rather than quantity. They practise sustainable agriculture with great respect for the environment.
