Protos’27 is the most emblematic wine from the Protos winery. A tribute to the first-ever vintage commercialised by the winery in 1927 by the 11 winegrowers who established the winery in Peñafiel and the outcome of the interesting project carried out by the winery in the I+D+I area.

Proto'27 has a profile that differs from the rest of the winery's range of red wines, being much fresher and more harmonious and with a distinct personality and fruit expressiveness.

Production: 

Made exclusively from Tinta del País sourced from the most treasured vineyards, harvested manually and double selected in the vineyard and at the sorting table.

The wine is aged for 16 months in new French oak cask, followed by 12 months of refinement in bottle before being released into the market.

Tasting Notes: 

Intense cherry red colour, lively and bright. It displays a stunning nose of ripe red and black fruit combined with sweet spices and toasted notes. Quite expressive and elegant.

Notes: It can be enjoyed now or through the next 5–8 years.

THE WINERY

Since it was founded in 1927, the company has grown rapidly, becoming one of the region’s more well-known brands. This modern winery in the town of Anguix (Burgos) controls 1400 ha spread out over numerous plots with an average size of around 1 hectare dispersed throughout the Ribera del Duero region.

The vineyards are located on the best estates and in areas that are best suited to growing Tempranillo grapes, with the majority of the vineyards planted on south-facing hillsides at elevations of up to 900 metres and comprising a variety of soil types.
