This is a high-mountain wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that were grown on calcareous soils at an altitude of 850 metres above sea level in vineyards in the Sort-Pallars Sobirà area of the High Pyrenees region.

Production:

Fermentation takes place in 23 hl stainless steel with frequent pigeage. They apply reductive ageing for 10 months in stainless steel vats.

Tasting Notes: 

Good fruit extract, exhibiting a fresh nose of red fruit, raspberry, and loganberry with a touch of sweet spiciness. Bundles of fresh red fruit open the palate, especially of ripe raspberry flavours, pleasant and direct with an easy-going texture and a nicely velvety finish.

Notes: Best enjoyed over the next 2–3 years.

Battliu de Sort is located at the foot of the National Park d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici in the area of Sort-Pallars Sobirà (High Pyrenees) D.O. Costers del Segre. This is a relatively new project from a group of four close friends with a passion for wine. The vineyards, extending over 6 ha over gentle hills at an altitude of 900 metres, are ecologically farmed.
