Harrobia is the latest release from Jade Gross's emerging project in Rioja. A project that is generating great expectations for the quality and unique personality of its wines. Produced in limited quantities, Jade crafts her wines in the most artisanal way with minimal intervention, giving priority to the expression of the varietal and the characteristics of the terroir.

The result is a range of wines that reflects her personal interpretation when it comes to choosing the specific plots and the diversity of the blends, clearly reflecting a deep respect for the environment and gratitude for the people who have helped her to make this project possible.

Harrobia is a 100% Tempranillo red wine sourced from a single small plot, "La Cantera", in Labastida, Rioja Alavesa. The grapes come from old vines over 36 years old, grown at high altitude on clay-limestone soil. 

Wine of very limited production, 2258 bottles produced.

Production:

The winemaking process is artisanal. Handpicked and hand-sorted at the winery. Total destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open vats. Matured for 12 months in French oak barrels.

The 2024 vintage displays greater freshness and offers enhanced elegance and depth, reflecting not only the quality of the vintage but also Jade's evolution and meticulous attention to every detail.

Tasting Notes: 

A modern blend and a true expression of terroir. Elegant and remarkably fresh, displaying a wide range of aromas, with black fruit and cherry standing out, combined with notes of leather, black liquorice and spices. On the palate it is silky, with freshness and well-integrated tannins. Dry and long finish,

THE PROJECT

Jade Gross is a name to be remembered. Born in Hong, the person behind this emerging project is in La Rioja. An exciting project that is generating great expectation for Jade's unique way to interpret the terroir, which is reflected in her wines, resulting in wines that shine for their distinct personalities.

Jade is a self-made winemaker, and her previous intense working experiences have led her to this most recent project and big challenge. Her CV counts the valuable expertise she gained working as head chef and in the R&D team at prestigious restaurants such as El Celler Can Roca and Mugaritz. An experience that marked her the most was where she got to know Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández, winemakers from San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

This friendship gave way to what was to be her new and most challenging project; she left gastronomy and embarked on a new venture, starting from scratch in the world of wine in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.

In 2019, a new life starts for Jade. With the help of Abel and Maite and the purchase of grapes from a local winegrower, she made reality her passion, and her first wines were born. In 2020, she bought a vineyard in Labastida, at an altitude of 600 metres, and from then on, with a clear idea of the road to follow, she continued to make wines that would represent her own way of understanding the terroir, at the same time that she never stopped experimenting with varieties, soils, and microclimates, always showing a great commitment to the environment and its people.

After all this, she has succeeded in creating her own stamp on the diverse range of wines by crafting singular and exciting blends that are always produced in small, limited quantities. Her wines shine with their own light, a clear reflection of her enthusiasm, determination, and desire for knowledge.
