SiurAlta Morat belongs to the range of wines under Alfredo Arribas' project "VinsNus" Montsant.
A very imaginative wine conceived a priori, made from organic and sustainable agriculture, the result is a pure, natural, and artisanal.
Production:
The grapes are sourced from two adjoining vineyards at the foothills of the Sierra de la Gritella, in the Sierra del Montsant Natural Park, at 700 meters above sea level, on soils of red clay and slate with a south-facing orientation.
Vinification:
Morat is a blend of mainly Syrah with just 10% of Viognier. The two varieties have co-fermented together in stainless steel vats, harvested early, before their ripening limits, in order to get the maximum potential and freshness of the Syrah variety, as well as the lowest possible alcoholic graduation.
The wine ages for 10 months in a 1000-liter amphora. Bottled unfiltered. Total SO2: 12/14 mg/l
The result is a juicy, fresh red wine with aromas of red fruit and spiciness.
SiurAlta VINS NUS Montsant is Alfredo Arribas’ project in the DO Montsant. This project includes a range of wines made in the most natural way: pure, handcrafted, and close to their origins. Wines where the acidity constitutes the backbone of the wine, thus replacing the traditional tannic based structure, this can be achieved thanks to the higher freshness existing permanently in the SiurAlta area, which allows practicing a non-interventionist winemaking. Resulting in high altitude wines with great capacity for ageing.
Since the early starts of this wine-making adventure in 2001 with his initial project of Clos del Portal in Priorat, Alfredo has moved on focused by his passion and concern in the search for new initiatives. He developed a recovery task of old vines in the neighbouring DO Montsant "Trossos", followed by the incorporation of a project called "el Mas de l’A", based on the different red and white Grenache grapes growing in the enclave of La Morera de Montsant. Opting for sustainable agriculture and viticulture, co-planting as a rule, and stimulating the virtues of the youngest vines.
