Mas d'en Brunet is a tribute to its origins, a red wine produced by the Cedó Anguera family and made in accordance with sustainable farming practices. While the winery is already renowned for its Cariñena wines, with this wine they seek to capture the unique character of the Mas d'en Brunet terroir and the value of its old vines.
Production:
The Mas D'en Brunet is a single-varietal Carignan sourced from old vines planted in 1945. The vines are planted on calcareous clay terroir in the Serra d'Almos at 250 metres above sea level.
The wine was aged for 12 months in 225-litre new French oak barrels.
Limited production of 1250 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Bright and clean. An expressive nose with a distinct varietal character. Displays black fruit and floral notes alongside hints of mint and minerality. Medium-bodied, with a lively and fresh palate. It shows black fruit and menthol notes, polished fruity tannins and a long and lingering finish.
Celler Cedó Anguera is a small family-owned winery located in La Serra d'Almos, a small village within the DO Montsant. The winery has 15 hectares of its own vines, all within the La Serra d'Almos municipal district, primarily planted with Carignan and Grenache, with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah as well.
The family had been wine growers and were selling all of their grapes to the Cooperative Serra d'Almos until they built the winery in 2006 and began producing their own wines. They vinified all the young wines in stainless steel vats and aged wines in oak barrels. Every grape is selected according to its ripening time.
