Ireland’s youngest, smallest and only independent whiskey distillery; Cooley Distillery was established in 1987 in the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth a wild rugged region on the west of Ireland, near the border with Northern Ireland. It distills both pure malt and grain whiskey in traditional copper pot stills with double distillation process. Connemara Peated Single Malt brings back the ancient tradition which had slowly disappeared of drying malting barley over peat fires which gives a distinctive smoky taste and distinguishes it from the Irish Whiskeys. It uses a mix of Scottish peated malt with unpeated Irish malt and aged in ex-bourbon casks. It presents a smooth sweet taste with complex malt and peat flavors, floral notes with a honeyed sweetness followed by malt and fruit flavors.
