Vinification:

Castaño Colección Cepas Viejas is made from two main grapes, Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from low-yielding old vines located at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level. It has aged for 14 months in oak barrels.  

Tasting Notes:   

Highly expressive and modern wine. Mature dark fruit aromas, blueberry and blackberry, with spice and mineral notes. Good weight and soft entry, notes of liquorice and a succulent concentration of ripe fruit, firm and elegant tannins, very persistent and long.

The Family Castaño is today a highly respected wine producer in Yecla, Murcia, southeastern Spain. Founded in 1950, but it wasn't until the 1980s that they began elaborating bottled wines. They now produce a wide range of good-quality wines with competitive prices, mostly from the local variety Monastrell, from their own nearly 450 hectares of vineyards spread across four different estates in the D.O. Yecla.
