Elaborated from pure Verdejo grapes, from vines indigenous to the region sourced in El Monte, four hectares of old vines grow on limestone slopes, loose soil, and gravel.
The vines are bush-trained. Manually harvested. Fermentation takes place in different-sized barrels and foudres, and cement, using native and selected yeast. Matured in barrels for seven months.
Tasting notes:
Clean nose displaying aromas of citrus fruits, apples, pears, herby touches, and freshness. Good complexity, medium-bodied with a touch of spiciness on the palate, and a fresh, clean, persistent finish with depth and flavour.
THE WINERY
Compañia de Vinos de Telmo Rodríguez was established in 1994 after Telmo spent time working in the family-owned winery Remelluri; currently, he is producing rare and limited world-class quality wines in eight different DOs, using exclusively native grape varietals traditional to their regions and adhering to his philosophy of recovering abandoned vineyards that are biodynamically farmed and exclusively bush-trained.
