Production:
Manual selection of each variety. Partially fermented in stainless steel vats with its lees and partly fermented and aged in French oak barrels for five months.
Tasting Notes:
Golden yellow colour, clean and bright. Tropical fruit, pineapple, and peaches are combined with attractive touches of white fruit, very ripe and almost sweet, and a hint of citrus and toasted notes. Very good balance; oak and fruit are well balanced, succulent and fresh with a silky texture and generous acidity.
The winery is called Domini de la Cartoixa (the priory’s domain), as these lands once belonged to the Carthusian monks of Scala Dei Priory. The winery and its 11-hectare vineyard are located in the village of El Molar within the prestigious DOC Priorat and are owned by the Perez-Dalmau family.
The wines from the winery, Clos Galena, Galena, and Formiga de Vellut, are organically farmed and produced, duly certified by the authority CCPAE, the Catalan Council of Organic Production, the public watchdog responsible to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government.
