Giol Porrera Garnatxa Blanca is a single varietal of the autochthonous variety par excellence, Garnatxa Blanca, sourced exclusively from its own grapes and carefully hand-selected from a single vineyard, “Les Sentius”, vines in Costers (steep slopes) and Llicorella soils, east-orientated at an altitude of 450 metres.

The wine was made with minimal intervention; it has not seen any oak.

Total production: 600 bottles.

Tasting Notes: 

An intense and complex nose, on first impression, stands out with aromas of green apple and peach, followed by notes of Mediterranean herbs, fennel, and anise, with a hint of persistent minerality. Unctuous, smooth, good fruit weight, and fresh.

This young winery, Bodegas Giol Porrera, is the project of winegrower and winemaker Jonàs Macip, who, together with the full support of his family, has created a small family-run operation in the heart of the Priorat, in the village of Porrera, to elaborate their own wines from the grapes they have always grown and had previously sold to other producers. The winery was born in 2018, and their vintage was released to the market in 2020, in the midst of the difficulty and uncertainty that the pandemic times had brought.
