Sierra Cantabria is a winery in San Vicente de la Sonsierra owned by the Eguren family; the estate comprises an extensive heritage of exceptional vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria, a privileged enclave due to its climatic and geological conditions. These vineyards produce a collection of unique wines that transmit the essence of the terroir and bear the personal stamps that the family imprints on the elaboration of its wines. The winery was established in 1979 by the Eguren family, who have been dedicated to cultivating vineyards and producing Rioja wines since way back in 1870 and over five generations. 

Production: 

The vineyard is cultivated using environmentally friendly practices, involving minimal intervention and the use of organic fertilisers. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. The grapes go through a 12-hour cold maceration process. The wine is fermented in new French oak barrels; afterwards, it ages in barrels for 11 months on its fine lees, with two battonages per week during the first 6 months. 

Tasting Notes:

It presents a bright golden colour. Aromas of tropical fruit combining with light mineral and spicy notes. The palate is full-bodied, unctuous yet fresh, with a silky, smooth entry. Round tannins intertwine with a spicy and mineral finish.
