Ultreia de Valtuille is a Mencia-based wine of limited production and handcrafted by Raúl Pérez in Bierzo. Sourced from an old-vine Mencia vineyard in the Villegas zone within the municipal district of Valtuille, located at over 500 metres altitude. Aged for 12-14 months in French oak.

Tasting notes:

Complex and harmonious, good freshness, scents of red cherries and violets, a touch of earthiness and balsamic. Silky texture, fine tannins, and subtle oak perfectly integrated.

Notes: The wine has a good ageing potential.

Raúl Pérez is regarded as among the most talented and innovative winemakers, almost a legend within the Spanish winemaking world and abroad. The collaboration with other winemakers and wineries has also proved a great success.

He works with the autochthonous varietals of the area. He makes amazing wines in different appellations in Galicia and elsewhere, always small and selected productions. Getting hold of his wines is not that easy, as they are probably one of the most sought-after.
