Heraclio Alfaro was founded in 2018; it belongs to the Terras Gauda group, the well-known Rías Baixas winery. With this project, Terras Gauda enters the DOC Rioja, producing the first wine with the designation. The winery consists of 30 ha of vineyards in the district of Alfaro; the wine comes from the Finca El Estarijo, planted with vines that are about 40 years old.

The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks, followed by 12 months in oak barrels.

Tasting notes:

Classy ripe fruit nose, gentle, smooth cherry and plump, pure ripe red fruit, with a lovely spicy element and deep, lingering flavours.
