It spent 15 months in new and used French and American oak barrels and in Fudres. Bottled in April 2023
Tasting Notes:
Precise and concentrated on the nose, with a clean and charming expression of fruit. It displays good aromas of ripe red fruit and subtle floral notes. Full-bodied with firm structure and energy, smooth, juicy tannins, and a fresh finish.
Notes: It is recommended to decant the wine. Enjoy now, or drink nicely through 2030.
THE WINERY
Bodegas Mauro was founded in 1978 as the personal project of the well-known and reputable vigneron Mariano Garcia, who for 30 years was the technical director at Bodegas Vega Sicilia. Mauro is located in Tudela del Duero, a historic town in the province of Valladolid, in the heart of the Duero Valley but just outside the border of the Ribera del Duero Appellation, being the geographical delineation at the time the winery was set up, which is the reason why Mauro was excluded from the Denomination of Origin of Ribera del Duero.
Since then, Mauro has established a solid reputation and is probably one of the most famous producers in the area. It makes wines with a modern style designed to be full-bodied and elegant, which express the identity of the terroir, the characteristics of the grape varieties, and the personality of the winemaker.
The winery produces 3 wines: Mauro, the flagship wine; Mauro VS, with a longer ageing period and made from a selection of the best grapes sourced from 2 main parcels; and Terreus, made from centenarian vines sourced from one unique vineyard. The winery is incorporating sustainable viticulture with the objective of preserving the biodiversity and getting the maximum expression of the terroir. In the vineyard, no herbicides or pesticides are used.
