Las Gravas is a single-estate red wine from Finca "Las Gravas", a wine with a marked Mediterranean character, from dry-farmed old vines of Monastrell growing on a hillside with poor limestone soils and blended with a small amount of Garnacha from younger vines.

Produced by Bodegas Casa Castillo, a family winery that for 3 generations has been dedicated to the cultivation of very low-yield, dry-farmed vineyards on the north side of the Sierra del Molar.

Production:

Hand harvested. Fermentation of each variety separately of destemmed grapes with native yeast. Maturation in 5000-litre oak foudres and 500-litre oak barrels for 14 months.

Tasting Notes: 

Dark cherry colour with a marked Mediterranean style. Intense and concentrated, ripe, almost creamy black fruits, herbs, and a spicy nose. Succulent and intense, with great fruitiness and balsamic notes, structured with fine dry tannins and a long and persistent aftertaste.

Notes: A wine with outstanding potential longevity.
