An aromatic and fruity village red wine from slight altitude sites with predominantly limestone soils. This is one of the wines made by Javi Revert under his own personal project in Font de La Figuera, a small Valencian village where all of his vineyards are located.
He works a total of 12 hectares of vineyards, some of which are old mountain vineyards and some of which are young vineyards that have been replanted on traditional sites. The work is carried out with the least possible intervention and the greatest possible respect for the environment, always using ecological and biodynamic practices and encouraging biodiversity in the vineyards.
Sensal is a Mediterranean blend of Monastrell, Bonicaire, and Garnacha. The grapes come from five different plots in the "Els Juncarejos" parage at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level.
Sensal is now mainly made from younger vineyard grapes of local varieties that were replanted in the old mountain plots, while in its early vintages it was only made from old vines.
Production:
Hand harvested. Each of the five plots undergoes separate vinification. Partially destemmed and natural yeast fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Aged for 9 months in concrete tanks. Bottled without fining and without added sulphites.
Suitable for vegans.
Tasting Notes:
A fragrant and highly expressive red wine. Aromas of red fruits like red cherries and plums, floral notes, and fresh Mediterranean herbs. Juicy with ripe red fruit flavours and round tannins.
