Alaya Tierra is a single-varietal Garnacha Tintorera sourced from old, low-yielding vines growing in the highest and coolest areas of the Almansa region, on limestone and sandy soils at an altitude of around 1000 metres above sea level.

Production:

Fermentation takes place in new French and American oak barrels, where it will age for 15 months before being bottled.

Tasting Notes:

Big and beautiful, powerful, mature black fruit, complex and mineral, with wood aromas from the ageing. Velvety, soft cassis in a mature, powerful wine.

THE WINERY

Bodegas Atalaya is one of the seven companies that compose the Gil Family Estates Group, a project that unifies a series of selected and interesting wineries from different DOs in Spain, each with its own personality.

The winery, established in 2007, is located 3 kilometres north of the town of Almansa, east of Albacete Province. The vineyards are planted predominantly with the autochthonous varieties of the zone, Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera.
