A naturally sweet wine made from overripe Carignan grapes, unoaked, and with minimal intervention during fermentation.
The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard, from 6-year-old vines grafted from a selection of the old vines from the estate "Trosset del Pagès", vines growing on rocky soil of Llicorella with a southern exposure, vines that produce little clousters of very small grains that give a must of great concentration.
Production is limited to 690 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Bright garnet color. Deep and complex, aromas of fruit in compote, floral notes, violets, and quite mineral. Silky with good acidity that gives it freshness and vivacity, with the right touch of sweetness.
This young winery, Bodegas Giol Porrera, is the project of winegrower and winemaker Jonàs Macip, who, together with the full support of his family, has created a small family-run operation in the heart of the Priorat, in the village of Porrera, to elaborate their own wines from the grapes they have always grown and had previously sold to other producers. The winery was born in 2018, and their vintage was released to the market in 2020, in the midst of the difficulty and uncertainty that the pandemic times have brought.
