La Rural Malvasía de Sitges is a young, Mediterranean white wine made from 100% Malvasía de Sitges grapes. La Rural is a young project born in 2018 on the 35 ha family's vineyards; the brothers Xavi and Andreu Padró are the men behind the project, who made the decision to start producing their own wines after four generations of cultivating the vineyards to sell the grapes. Their aim is to produce fresh, light, natural wines without added sulphites.

The majority of the grapes are native varieties sourced from the family vineyards located in the Alt Camp region in the village of Santes Creus in Tarragona. The vines are growing on calcareous soils and benefit from the sea breeze due to their proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. They are all farmed organically in a respectful, environmentally conscious manner and fully certified since 2015.

Elaboration:

The grapes are sourced from an organically farmed vineyard in Santes Creus, Tarragona. The young, low-yielding vines are planted on clay and limestone at an altitude of 363 metres.

The grapes are manually harvested at their optimum point of maturation. They go through a short maceration of 3 days with the skins and whole bunch. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel vats, soft pressing. The wine rested for 10 months in a stainless steel vat before being bottled unfiltered and with no sulphites added. SO₂ < 10.
