The last addition to join the Cosmic family is this Encarinyades, a single-vineyard wine without added sulphites made from the blend of the three Carinyenas from the same plot. This is a wine hard to classify as red or white. With this wine, his creator, Salvador Batlle, aims to recover and apply the generic patrimony of the white Carinyena, a historic variety in the DO Empordà, while experimenting with modernity and modernity.

This wine is made from a single plot in the Agullana municipality in the comarca of Alt Empordà (Girona). The first gapes from the young white Carignan vines planted in 2014 are used to make this wine, and they are blended with grapes from the oldest red Carignan vines and grapes sourced from the replanted grey Carignan vines.

Vinification:

The wine is organically farmed following biodynamic principles, working with sacred geometry. Manual harvesting follows the biodynamic calendar.

Hand harvested. Partial destemming. Maceration with skins and stems for 5 days. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeast, 85% in stainless steel tanks and 15% in amphora.

Aged for 4 months with its fine lees in stainless steel tanks. Bottled unfiltered and unstabilised. SO₂ < 10 mg/l.

Limited production of 5341 bottles

Tasting Notes: 

Complex nose with attractive notes of red fruits. Fresh entry on the palate with just the right level of acidity over a mineral background and a light mouthfeel.

THE PROJECT

Cosmic Vinyaters is the project of Salvador Batlle, the alma mater behind this project, and part of a new generation of winemakers who are passionate, enthusiastic, and talented young people with the aim of producing small-crafted quantities of excellent wines with their own unique identity, while totally respecting the values of the fruit. Motivated by his philosophy, Salvador employs the viticulture practices of organic farming using biodynamic principles and minimum intervention that are respectful of the environment.

Cosmic Vinyaters produces its wine in two very distinct landscapes of the Catalan geography, in the Alt Empordà, where it worships the native varieties, and in the Baix Penedès, where it works and cultivates native varieties together with foreign varieties well suited to the terroir.
