61 Dorado en Rama is a fortified white wine produced by Bodega Cuatro Rayas in La Seca, Valladolid, DO Rueda.
It is a unique wine, a non-vintage wine, from the only "saca", from the barrels of 2024, with a production of just 1,100 bottles. This is a wine that embodies the essence of authentic soleras from the middle of the 20th century.
Production:
Made from the Palomino grape of the Rueda DO, a variety that has practically disappeared due to the ban on being planted in the region.
The Palomino comes from just one-hectare plot dating back a century, from the very few remaining vines that are pamperingly cared for by the Lasecana Cooperative, and it is vinified with Centenary Verdejo to obtain a selection from 13 barrels with "velo de flor".
It is made using the traditional method. Aged in butts that are filled to five-sixths of their capacity to encourage the formation of the veil of native yeasts. Bottled without fining or filtering.
Tasting Notes:
Clean golden colour. It displays oxidative notes with a nutty character on the nose reminiscent of an amontillado, bakery notes, and refreshing acidity. Full-bodied and complex on the palate, with rich nutty flavours, light bitterness, and saline touches. Persistent with a warm finish.
