Areas de Montalvo is a pure Albariño made by Raúl Pérez under the denomination of origin Rías Baixas. His aim was to produce a wine with an exclusive profile that differs from the classic Rias Baixas and inspired by his great wines from Bierzo.
The first vintage produced of this wine was the 2017, and Raúl decided to wait five years before releasing it with the aim of ensuring the wine achieved the standard of consistency and character he was seeking.
It is a highly exclusive white wine with great cellaring potential, made from 100% Albariño grapes and produced in very limited quantities. The winemaking process is straightforward, with a low-intervention approach, prioritising the quality of wine itself and seeking a profile that highlights its complexity, texture and ageing potential. Fermentation and ageing take place in an oak barrel for a period of one year, without undergoing batonnage or racking.
The production of this vintage is extremely limited, with just 498 bottles available.
Tasting notes:
Remarkable for its complexity and elegance, as well as for its character. Its style is reminiscent of a Burgundy wine. Fragrant and dry, with citric notes and creamy aromas, saline notes, and good mineral intensity. Excellent acidity.
