"Deunido Daroka Orange" is the new creation from Christian Barbier's project. On this occasion, he has gone to the village of Daroca, Zaragoza in Aragón, where he produces organically this natural Orange wine made entirely from Macabeo grapes. These are sourced from very old vines, between 80 and 100 years old, located at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level on clay soils.

Hand-harvested, without destemming, it goes through a very short maceration. The fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 6 months in amphorae and old wood barrels, followed by a further 6 months in bottle. Bottled without added sulphites. SO2: <10 mg/l.

Tasting Notes

Orange, natural wine. Complex with good intensity, it displays marked fruity notes, herbal hints, and light citrus touches. Fresh and mineral on the palate, balanced and long.

THE PROJECT

"Deunido" is the result of Christian Barbier's personal project, starting in 2019 in a vineyard, Finca “La Coma”, located in the middle of the forest in the village of La Figuera (DO Montsant), with 40-year-old vines of black Grenache growing on white clay soils at 600 metres in altitude. Here in this idyllic environment is where this impressive first vintage by Christian is born.

Christian Barbier Meyer has had the best ever formation in the wine-making business. Having grown up in one of the most well-known families of winemakers from the Priorat area, he is the youngest of the Barbier family; his father is considered almost a Priorat legend; René Barbier from Clos Mogador and his brothers are all producing beautiful wines in the region, each reflecting their own personalities in the wines.

For Christian, making wine has come naturally. Christian has grown up among nature, on a llicorella-based terroir inhabited by a great diversity of plants and animal life. From here, his great passion and respect for the environment reflect clearly in his winemaking and his practice of sustainable and balanced agriculture.
