Founded in 1933 by 5 families from the village. Who together established a cooperative that would handle large quantities of grapes economically and efficiently. The cooperative wears the name of the village where it is located: Capçanes, a village hidden away in the Priorato hills inland from Tarragona and with a long wine growing history.
The company was reinvented in the 1990s as an independent company with its original members as shareholders, today they have around 130 members and they produce a large selection of good quality wines including the well known Peraj Ha’abib – a Kosher wine- under the appellation of Montsant. www.cellercapcanes.com
