Purgatori is the wine of the Torres family from the historic estate, L'Aranyó, owned in 1770 by the monks of the Montserrat Abbey and acquired by the Torres family at the end of the nineties, where they built their winery in 2018, maintaining the Monks' original old farmhouse.
This historic estate is located in the heart of Les Garrigues, a harsh and rugged region known for its extreme climate and very harsh conditions. This was the place where the disobedient monks were sent to work the land and carry out their penance. From this, they discovered a new terroir with excellent potential, destined to be the perfect place for growing grapes.
Winemaking:
Skin contact for 8-12 days. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 7 to 10 days at a controlled temperature of 22°C. Ageing for 15-18 months in a barrel (30% in new French oak).
Tasting Notes:
Dark cherry red colour. Elegant nose of red forest fruits, raspberry and redcurrant, and tones of cherry jam. On the palate, it has a good intensity of red fruits with delicate, fine tannins.
